How do you pronounce "Mielke"?
Like "Milky" Way.
Does it cost money to review and quote on my project?
No. Contact Mielke Design to schedule a review of your project. A project Proposal that includes a procedure, deliverables, and cost is prepared at no cost to prospective clients.
What CAD software do you use?
Solidworks
Will you work with my in-house engineering group?
Absolutely. Mielke has assisted numerous engineering teams, helping to bring a needed skill set to a project, or to alleviate increased work loads within companies.
A vendor said my product was not manufacturable, as it's designed. Can you help?
Most often, yes. There are many "rules" for properly designing parts for each type of material and its associated manufacturing process. It's called Design for Manufacturing. Products designed without following the rules can be redesigned to be manufacturable, and often reduce cost.
Will you steal my product idea?
No! But, here's a link to download a free Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA) that I would sign.
Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Do you provide marketing services?
No.
I have an existing product, can you tell me if it can be designed to cost less to build?
It is not uncommon for production part materials and processes or design to not be optimal, some from the start, and some because a product's production volume has changed. Redesign can often reduce cost to build, and improve part and product quality at the same time.
How does your cost compare to other design firms?
Without a payroll or large facility to financially support, Mielke Design does not cost much to operate, and those savings are passed on to clients.
How do you charge?
Projects are usually quoted for the fixed cost of the project. Some long-standing clients are billed for time and materials. Checks, electronic bank transfers, and PayPal are excepted payment methods.
Do you manufacture products?
No, but do have many manufacturing contacts.
Do you build models and prototypes?
Yes. From handmade mockups, to assemblies of 3D printed or CNC machined parts, and protoype PC boards. Also build prototypes using cast concrete, molded fiberglass, cast resins, and wood and metal.
Do you do electronic design?
No, but regularly network with companies that do, and often assist clients with introductions, and work regularly with MicroSystems Development Technology for electronic design.
